One supernatural partnership is making headlines this week. Godzilla vs. Kong surprised everyone by netting close to $50MM in their opening weekend in the US and over $200MM worldwide. To put that in perspective, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet (which was mind-bending rad, IMO) earned just $9.5MM in its opening weekend.
It could be helpful timing with vaccines making theaters safer to visit. It could be that supernatural monsters fighting each other are a better distraction than trying to get your head around time and space after 12 hours of Zoom calls.
