Hey Alexa, Talk Like Grandpa

In the future, Alexa could read your favorite book in the voice of a recently-deceased loved one.

In case you thought Alexa wasn’t creepy enough, now your favorite household assistant can use AI to mimic the voice of a deceased relative. Amazon’s spokespeople claim that the tech will aid with the grieving process of recently-deceased loved ones.

While we’re not sure what the moral responsibility of this new functionality, we have to admit, it would be pretty neat to have a conversation with famous people in history. Who would you like to have a conversation with via Alexa? Let us know in #watercooler!

Amazon demo’d the tech at their Re:Mars conference earlier this week but has not announced when it will be available to the public.
