Ron Piovesan is the Head of Technology Partners at Okta, a publicly held identity security company. Ron leads a team of business development professionals and is responsible for driving Okta’s go-to-market and product partnership strategy alongside some of the largest companies in the world, including AWS, Google, Apple, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, CrowdStrike and others. In addition to technology partnerships, Ron developed Okta’s managed service provider strategy (MSP) and onboarded Softbank, Okta’s first MSP partner. Ron held similar partnership and ecosystem roles at Cisco, Mozilla Firefox and Hearsay Systems.
Ron has negotiated complex commercial, distribution, co-marketing, co-engineering and API-use agreements that have generated millions in new revenue as well as expanded the capabilities of his company’s products. In addition to his professional work, Ron teaches graduate courses in communications, marketing and go-to-market strategies and currently holds a faculty position at University of Southern California.
He has previously been on the faculty of Santa Clara University and Stanford Continuing Ed. Globally educated, Ron has a joint MBA from Columbia University and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, an MA in media and communications from the University of London, UK, and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University in Canada. He is active in the community sits on the board of the San Francisco Contemporary Players, one of the leading contemporary music orchestras in the US.
He previously served as a board member for Each Green Corner, an organization that uses urban agriculture to build community and promote awareness about food security, public health, and sustainability
