Gig Workers (and others) Demand More in the Digital Age

After the pandemic increased how much we all rely on gig workers, the industry is finally getting improved working conditions.

Drivers for popular delivery apps based out of NYC can finally worry slightly less about their working conditions. On Wednesday afternoon, the New York City Council passed a bill that guarantees gig workers access to restaurant bathrooms, set maximum trip distance, and more. This revelation comes months after drivers protested the working conditions.

The IATSE, or International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, is also joining forces to speak out against low pay and seeking greater compensation for working on streaming-only projects. As more and more Americans continue to cut the cable and sign-up for streaming platforms, we expect this tension to continue to escalate.
