Another week brings another slew of news regarding Facebook. The Big Blue Giant announced on Thursday that they’re rebranding Facebook as Meta. After weeks of negative press regarding shady internal tactics and whistleblowers speaking out about Instagram’s harmful algorithm, we suppose it makes sense to create some distance from the Facebook name.
In addition to a new name and look, Meta continues to bet on the future of their metaverse endeavors. Aside from a barrage of metaverse demos, the Facebook Connect event also hinted that the currently available Quest 2 VR headset will be shifting more toward VR fitness-based activities. If this allows us to hit the gym without smelling the stench of gym bros, count us in.
