What do you do when you get an email from GrubHub offering $15 off any order you place between 11am – 2pm? You take advantage of free lunch, of course!
And that’s exactly what thousands of New Yorkers did on Tuesday. Unfortunately, GrubHub did not warn restaurants ahead of time. As a result, restaurants were hit with hundreds of orders right at 11am, with no time to call in additional staff or prepare inventory.
We thought getting our inboxes slammed at 5:01pm on a Friday was bad enough, but our heart goes out to all of the fast-food workers who had to wrap hundreds of burritos in the middle of the day.
